Stopping to Smell the Roses

Many of us can get caught up with the hopelessness that can exist when we are going through hard times.

No matter how hard life seems to be, it can be easier when you remember to stop for a moment and smell the roses.

"Smelling the roses" doesn't always mean literally sniffing a flower, it means stopping and looking around you and seeing that there is good even in the midst of much personal turmoil.

This moment of realization can give you renewed hope and strength.

Does this sound silly to you? Perhaps too simple?

Why do you think it has to be so much more complicated? The truth is that it is not.

Try and stop for a moment. Let go of your troubles and "see" what good things are going on in your life.

They are there. Recognize them and be thankful for them. They may even "grow".

Soon you will be seeing things in a different light and your troubles will become less.

Again, I know this sounds too simple, too easy and maybe even too idealistic but just give it a try for one day and see what happens.

It can never hurt to be grateful!
