Life would be boring without any challenges. Imagine it. If everything always seemed to go "your" way what lessons would there be to learn?
What strength would you gain by just going through your life day after day without having overcome a thing?
Obstacles are put in our way for a reason. To test our patience, to learn compassion, to teach a lesson- this is just a part of life.
Life is hard.
If anyone promised you that it wouldn't be, they lied.
Sometimes it seems like the obstacles keep coming and no matter what you do, you cannot get out from under them.
The strong are those who keep the faith. They keep believing that they were not handed more than they can deal with.
So what does that mean about the rest of us? Those who break down. Those who feel they cannot go on? Those who sometimes just want to give up.
Does that mean you are weak? Does that mean you are less deserving than the person who doesn't break under the pressure?
If you listen to the "life" coaches, they will preach that your attitude is everything. That you possess the power to make your life what you want it to be.
BULLSHIT.
Yes, you have the power to control how you will react to any given situation. That is it.
If you wake up in the morning and you have had enough and you have decided you do not want to live this life anymore the way it is- how much can you really change it?
There is a lot you can do but there are also things you cannot change.
Maybe the "secret" is to focus on what you can change and do what you can. Take the stuff that you cannot change and perhaps change your attitude about it.
The simplified idea that you do not need to accept a life that is less than you want/deserve/need is crap. So you do not accept poverty. It's not like you can simply wake up in the morning and get a better paying job and move up in the world.
Things take time and even with all the effort in the world, it might not be meant to be.
Maybe this post isn't "positive" enough. It is realistic though.
Think about it.
Consider what you can control. Consider what YOU can change about your life to make it better.
Consider what you might have to accept (for right now).
Don't feel defeated because you cannot maintain that "positive" attitude all the time. It is okay to have an occasional pity party for oneself.
Re-charge and re-focus.
Life is hard. Don't ever think it isn't.
