"If I don't do it, it won't get done"
One of the many lies a superwoman tells herself.
The truth is- the hard truth - it will get done but not the way YOU would do it. And guess what? It's perfectly okay.
Many women today do do it all. Forced to either because they are a single mom or because financially it is just too hard to get by on one income, many women find themselves in the role of superwoman. Many excel at it but many also lose themselves in the process.
Being selfish is not a bad thing but to the superwoman selfishness is a sign of someone self-absorbed. A superwoman is too busy doing for others and doesn't have time for herself.
The result of being a superwoman is self-neglect, burn-out and an overload of stress.
How do you break the chain? It isn't easy but it can change your life.
Step 1- slow down!
That's right. Just slow down. Decide what truly is a priority and what is not.
Step 2- Slack off a bit.
Cut yourself a break by letting go of obsessive needs such as maintaining a perfectly clean house.
step 3- Allow others to do for you.
No one is going to do things the same way as you do but lowering your standards won't kill you.
Step 4- Think about YOUR needs.
Yes you have needs. Stop worrying about feeling guilty about taking care of you and start doing it.
Step 5- Let go of feeling the need to make excuses for not doing it all.
Many superwoman feel that if they don't do it all they somehow have failed. This is not true and the biggest obstacle for most to overcome.
Once you can get past all of the above your life will change for the better. The result is a calmer, happier existance with less stress and more enjoyment.
