Stress-Free Living?

Have you ever gone to your doctor and had him advise you to avoid stress? Did you just want to laugh out loud?

Seriously, how can anyone avoid all stress? Unless you are living alone on a deserted island you are going to be faced with difficult people, situations and challenges. How do you live a stress-free life when it feels like stress is waiting around every corner?

There is a lot of power in your thoughts and actions. How you react when put into a potentially stressful situation can be a make-it-or-break-it moment.

The key to handling stress starts with taking care of yourself and your needs. Know what your triggers are and either avoid them or learn the best way to cope.

Of course there are some days when things happen and you feel more challenged. These "tests" of your patience can be trying but you can get through them without casualties.

Arm yourself with stressbusting tools! I know what helps me and maybe you will find that one or all of these will help you too.

1- scent - wearing a scent that makes you feel calm can really help you out in stressful moments. Lavender is my favorite.

2- healthy food - even if you don't have time to eat - make time! Fruit or a whole-grain bagel or toast makes a great pick me up.

3- B Vitamins - Making sure that I take my B-complex supplement daily helps keep my moods and energy levels where they need to be.

4- HYDRATE!!! - Being dehydrated can make you feel sluggish and unable to cope. Drink tons of water especially if you rely on coffee to keep up your hectic pace. Caffeine is very dehydrating.

5- Mantras - Having a personal mantra that you repeat to yourself can help you re-focus and get through tough days.
