Having a mental illness is a challenge and not an excuse for not living. Almost anything is possible in this life if you set your mind to it and go after what you want.
You will never know if you do not try.
Sometimes our original “plan” may have to be altered but eventually we can get what we need and want.
Balancing being bipolar with pregnancy is a new post that I wrote about today on my mental health awareness blog.
The subject has come up because I have a daughter who is bipolar and is hearing her biological clock ticking. She wants to have a baby and has fears that it will not be possible because of her disorder.
Although I do not think it will be easy, I do believe it can be done.
Planning is essential when you set a goal for yourself. Life is ever-changing and just having “a” plan is not enough. You must have a plan B.
Support from friends and family is always important. Sometimes we can go at it alone but it makes life easier when you have cheerleaders rooting you on from the sidelines.
Believe in your goal, see it and plan out how you will reach it.
Those who wait around for the doorbell to ring often wind up sitting alone. Get out there and make your life happen for you the way you want it to be.
Whatever the challenges are, make a plan, prepare to work for it and it will come to pass.
You will never know what you are capable of until you try and reach for it.
